Life Changing
Dental Implants

Zygomatic dental implants are designed for individuals with severe bone loss in the upper jaw, particularly in the region of the maxillary sinuses. Instead of being anchored in the jawbone like traditional implants, zygomatic implants are anchored in the zygomatic bone, also known as the cheekbone. This bone is denser and longer than the upper jawbone, making it suitable for implant placement even when there’s significant bone loss in the upper jaw. It often involves attaching longer implants that extend from the cheekbone to the upper jaw. Because of the intricate nature of this procedure and the anatomical proximity to critical structures like the sinus, a prosthodontist must have expertise in this specialized technique. This method of implant placement provides advantages over implant placement requiring bone grafting. Since zygomatic implants do not require bone grafting, patients don’t need to undergo additional treatment and wait for the necessary healing time before the placement of their implants. Zygomatic implants allow our patients to begin enjoying their new implants right away.

The Zygomatic Implant Process

The first step of the implant process is a consultation with Dr. Kota, where he will perform a thorough examination, take digital imaging, and create a customized treatment plan. During your consultation Dr. Kota will discuss your treatment goals and answer any questions you may have about the procedure. On the day of your surgery, you will be sedated to ensure you are relaxed and comfortable during implant placement. Dr. Kota will strategically place your implants into the zygomatic implants and snap in your temporary restoration, allowing you to begin enjoying your implants the moment you leave our office. The healing period is like that of traditional implants, usually three to six months, and allows time for your bone and implants to fuse. Once healing is complete, Dr. Kota will remove your temporary restoration and place your permanent, custom designed restoration. Your restoration is designed to look like your natural teeth based on factors like skin tone, facial structure, and gumline. You can now feel confident in your smile and begin enjoying the many benefits of zygomatic implants.
